Multimedia performance
30’
2015

“We will collide the sound through tapes containing our choice of favorite random sounds. The sound then will be collided, combined, and stirred into the sound output. We don’t know how it will come out. In our performance, we will try to compromise each other in the name of an appearance that will be stared at and listened to by people in sovereignty of a stage. “
AstoneA

AstoneA was born during the New Order government was still in power: a group of young children who were raised by MTV and the cassette music industry of the ‘90s. The reduced allowance from parents should be handled by tightening their spending for the sake of buying tapes and album releases by their favorite musicians. The heated political situation and prolonged monetary crisis in Indonesia became the memory of the last days of the collapse of the New Order regime.

In this OK Video event, AstoneA is playing with memory, sounds, fantasy, visual, and also their intuition as a generation who lived in the transitional time between the presence and absence of New Order government.

AstoneA

formed in 2003 at the Faculty of Language
and Art Education at the University of Indonesia (UPI)
Bandung. At that time, AstoneA consists of Andry Moch
(eq.), Muhammad Akbar, Erwin Windu Institution, and
Ori Riantori. Mufti “Amenk” Priyanka, joined in 2004. The
position of Ori Riantori was replaced by Deni Gedang
Ramdhani in mid 2006. The album, entitled Memori
Kumis Kucing (The Memory of Cat’s Whisker) was
released by the label Omuniuum in 2015.
